*RE: AAUA SCHOOL FEES SAGA*

It is saddening that Education which used to be our major heritage in this part of the Nation is gradually being destroyed and made unaffordable for children of the common man. Thomas Hobbes observed that our personal egos should be submitted to a state that guarantees peace " in return of ego"
We of the Congress of Young Intellectuals,  received with rude shock the sporadic shooting and indiscriminate arrest of AAUA Students that engaged in a peaceful demonstration to drag home their grieviences on the inhuman, arbitrary school fees increase.
It will be recalled that Gov Akeredolu led administration in Ondo State in his usual demonic and insensitive style increased tuition fees of  Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko with an Increment of about 500% jack-up.
Anchored on the above, the students trooped out in their thousands to (in line with democratic principles) protest against the callous unaffordable fee hike. The students were cruelly humiliated, embarrassed, brutalized and some arrested. We are informed that, over 200 students have been arrested, while many were seriously injured.
While we sympathetise with the students and parents of AAUA, we are asking the Ondo State government to unconditional effect the release of the arrested students and pay medical bills of the injured students. The state government should also review the fees to an affordable limit that is in reality with the situation of things in the State.
Of the Greatest Ondo State Youths!  We are confident that better days are ahead. The time is now for us to take our destiny in our hands. Enough is Enough of this wicked recycling of Pharaohs in our State and Nation.
Articulate Youths of Nigeria and Ondo State just as we are coping with this unpalatable situation, we beseech ALL Youth to dust up their PVC stand by and be determined to change this demonic change.

Aluta Continua!

APPEAL COURT JUDGEMENT IS A PLOT TO COW SARAKI

The Court of Appeal judgement of Tuesday 12 December, 2017 that ordered the retrial of Dr. Bukola Saraki on three charges out of the eighteen preferred against him may at best be a grand plot to cow the Senate President. It would be recalled that after the initial drama and melodrama at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, the Danladi Umar led Panel eventually acquitted and discharged Saraki of all the eighteen count charges preferred against him. No sane person would have contested the powers and rationality of the federal government to have appealed the CCT judgement in view of public opprobrium that greeted outcome of the case.

But, it is rather coincidentally worrisome that ruling of the Court of Appeal Panel led by Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson had upheld  charges 4, 5 and 6 only a day after the Senate President congratulated Prince Uche Secondus on his victory as the new National Chairman of the PDP. Although the Appeal Court Panel deserves commendation for vindicating Dr. Saraki in fifteen out of the eighteen wrong charges brought against him. The Panel's dismissal of fifteen charges is also an indication of the unfair and unjust persecution rather than prosecution of the Senate President all along. It is a general belief that the weak and unfounded charges preferred against Dr. Bukola Saraki were as a result of his firm resolve to have stood his ground by contesting the Senate presidency election which he eventually won. We need not deceive ourselves that there would never have been any charge against Saraki in any CCT or any other court if he had not gone ahead to test his popularity amongst his colleagues at the upper legislative chamber; contrary to the position on his political party, the APC.

From all intents and purposes, the latest recommendation of the Appeal Court Panel is nothing but a fall out of permutations for 2019 presidential election. It is an  obvious fact that the APC led federal government has indeed been rattled by the defection of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku to the PDP. Also, going by the roles played by Alhaji Atiku in the emergence of Dr. Saraki as the Senate President, the presidency is prepared to deploy all instruments of coercion to prevent the senate president from yielding to the appeal of his benefactor to join him in the PDP.

Aside the support given to Dr. Bukola Saraki by Alhaji Atiku which contributed to his emergence as the Senate president, the duo have been enjoying years of robust relationship as allies since their political paths had crossed in the PDP. It must also be noted that the emergence of Dr. Saraki as the Senate President was partly actualized by the support of PDP senators in the upper legislative chamber. All of these  coupled with the appeal made by Alhaji Atiku to Dr. Saraki and all other that had dumped the PDP to join him in the party have simply precipitated the the fresh order of retrial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The calculation is that the retrial order of Dr. Saraki will serve as a sufficient coercive force and legal encumbrance to prevent him from even thinking of joining forces with Alhaji Atiku or any of his old allies in the PDP. The game plan is also to use the retrial order as a big legal stick to railroad the Senate President to a compulsive operations at the whimsical caprices of the APC led federal government.

Inasmuch as the anti-corruption war of President Buhari is very much welcome majority of Nigerians, but it should not be a preemptive instrument of coercion targeted at silencing opposition and dissenting opinions. Nigerians will truly appreciate a comprehensive and blind anti-corruption war that will not recognize any friend or foe. The good intention of combating hydra headed corruption will be roundly defeated the moment the war is reduced to settling political scores.

The recommended retrial of Dr. Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal is notwithstanding a good development for the Senate President. The retrial has in a way presented Saraki with another opportunity to prove his innocence and detach his name from the toga of corruption in the court of public opinion. It will only be appreciated if the retrial is conducted without any political motive so that at the end justice would be seen by Nigerians to have been done in good conscience.

THE ONDO STATE SPEAKERSHIP RACE Vol. 1. By Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq.

THE ONDO STATE SPEAKERSHIP RACE Vol. 1.

Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq.

There is  an on-going important search for a new Speaker for the Ondo State House of Assembly as the Governor-elect prepares to take over the reign of state affairs.

This search is crucial to the development of the state and the high expectations of good governance from the incoming government. Only  recently, the people of ONDO state went to the polls in an historic election which saw the emergence of Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), of the opposition party in the state, winning overwhelmingly the ruling party.

As an electoral process it was fraught with its own patent of intrigues and politickings, but it is essentially, otherwise, widely accepted as a product of the people's will.

The emergence of the new governor prompts the restructuring of power allocations along the 3 Senatorial areas that make up the state to ensure social justice, equality and even power-spread in the state.

Except for the exposition of a new political theory in Ondo state, it is only fair and right that with the Northern senatorial district picking the governorship seat in the person of Aketi and the Southern senatorial district taking the Deputy Governorship position in the person of Mr. Agboola Ajayi, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly automatically swings to the Central Senatorial district.

This is a trite practice in our democratic experience and we must all appreciate it as any arrangement to the contrary can never stand the test of time.

Despite the chasm of the political divide in the state, there is an emerging confidence and consensus amongst the people of Ondo state that the incoming government will deliver on the goods of democratic dividends and stick to fair play in all its political exercise. It is further hoped that a fair and all encompassing leadership, regardless of status, will become a hallmark of its tenure. Hence, it is hoped Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu ( SAN)'s government will not stray from a fundamental principle which has served the State's crucial need for social inclusivity.

Any observer, keen or passing, would by now be abreast of what has become my abiding passion and interest. I have an unrepentant desire to see young people in our generation position themselves politically as to become proportionate decision makers and influencers of their destinies and that of the country. I yearn to see an emancipation from the shackles of political subjugation that has been our lot for donkey years. I believe so much in balance in governance. I have faith in the strength of youth, our power and vigor.

Our country today is suffering from a deficit of ideas that are reflective of the dynamics of growth and development because we continue to place it's progress in the hands of burned out, old and recycled policy makers. The disaster in this is the retrogression in just about every sphere of our engagements as a country that we see. From failing infrastructures to non-existent utilities, poverty of ideas and effete policies.

Recently, the whole world looked on in dismay as an alarming number of our lawmakers and ministers slept through the 2017 Budget Presentation on National Television. There can perhaps be no better symbolic expression of their lack lustre and inattentive attitude to the affairs of the nation. Nor, could a better statement be made as to how worn out these individuals are. Not surprisingly, they still hold on tenaciously to power out of avarice and because WE let them. Yes, we do.

Therefore as the search for a Speaker for the Ondo state parliament ensues, we must give premium to young people that are tested, trusted, vibrant, viable and reliable. This is especially so as they have taken the challenge upon themselves to defy the status quo.

Those who share this perception of progress have laboured and settled on the choice of Honourable Olamide George, a young man with an extremely functional creative instinct whose iron cast commitment to the service of his country is not in doubt.

Olamide George's abiding orientation is patriotism and service to Nigeria. He, as an undergraduate, has represented Nigeria in so many capacities as an athlete and also a renowned debater. He has brought so many honours and glory to his country in sports and fully understands the burden of expectations.

He paid his dues as a student leader and rose to the enviable position of National President of the National Association of ONDO State Students(NAOSS). We know OLAMIDE George very well and you know him all too as a consensus builder, a reform radicalist, leftists and a prominent member of the students' youth family in Ondo state and in Nigeria at large.

We cannot continue to cry foul while in implicit in the political exclusion that prevails in the state and country. The entire state and the body of Nigerian students and youths across board must rise to this opportunity before us. The time to rally around one of our own is before us. Actions more than words is our identity.

We further appeal to all members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, prominent stakeholders in the state, politicians, elders and youths to give this brave youth this opportunity with love and belief. We must not be afraid to take the right chances as opportunity thrusts it on our path. I also remain convinced that no true lover of Ondo state or Nigeria can argue against the need for fresh breath in our political whirlwind.

May right prevail over wrong, equity over inequity, fairness against travesty and us all against the traducers of our will.

God bless Nigeria.
God bless Ondo State.
God bless us all.

PDP Petitions Buhari, Attorney General, NJC Others over Ondo Guber Candidacy Suit

The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo state has petitioned  President Mohamadu Buhari, The National Judicial Council, and the Attorney -General of the  Federation over what it described as the unethical conduct and criminal conspiracy to  subvert the cause of justice in the suit bothering on the PDP candidature in the November 26 gubernatorial election.
In two separate petitions  against Justice E.O Abang of the Federal High Court Abuja , Olagoke Fakunle (SAN) and R A Oluyede Esq, with both also  forwarded to The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges and  The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committees, as well as President Buhari  and the Attorney General, the PDP in its petition against Justice Abang accused the judge of unethical conducts in his handling of the suit before him originated by Prince Biyi Poroye and 8 others against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP.
The PDP also accused  Justice Abang, Olagoke Fakunle  and Oluyede of unethical conducts in his handling the suit  which it submitted was initiated, and prosecuted in a manner that clearly shows criminal conspiracy to subvert the cause of justice by the trio.
In the petition against Justice Abang signed by the Ondo PDP Chairman, Engr Clement Faboyede, where the  party stated its  “believe that His Lordship Justice Abang is complicit in the political scheming against the PDP” the party insisted that the entire proceedings of the suit being handled by Abang which it said in the main amount to a properly crafted conspiracy to subvert the internal working of the PDP,  “was recklesly contrived , planned and executed by Justice EO Abang , Olagoke Fakunle, (SAN) and R A Oluyede Esq and on behalf of forces working in concert against the interest of the PDP”
Tendering documents marked Annexture 1,11, 111, 1V,V, and V1  to prove that actions were deliberately planned against it  by the trio, the petitioner  reported that  Fakunle and Oluyede  as pointed out in Annexture 1, ” an originating summon dated 7th of June 2016 on behalf of the Plaintiffs  was written by Fakunle and taken out by the same Fakunle for the plaintiff, in the  course of proceeding and to enable Justice Abang , Oluyede and Fakunle  perfect their plan, Olagoke Fakunle shifted position unethically to represent PDP and then conceded to the relief claimed by the plaintiff at the hearing of the originating summons”
Further, the petitioner reported that “in its judgement of 29th June 2016 on the originating summons, Justice Abang granted some restraining orders in favour of the plaintiff. The said judgement  of 29th June 2016 relates to 2019 general election; It has nothing to do with the 2016 Governorship election of Ondo state. As matter of fact, no reference was made to the 2016 governorship election in the said judgement”
Explaining that the Ondo PDP held its primary election where Mr Eyitayo Jegede SAN emerged winner, the Petitioner said it was taken aback when “towards the evening of 14th October 2016 the social media was awashed with the  information that the HON. Justice Abang granted an order directing the INEC to substitute the name of Mr Eyitayo Jegede with Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim Folorunsho as the candidate of the PDP in respect of the 2016 Governorship election in Ondo state.
“On further enquiry, we found out that there was a motion on notice dated 29th of September 2016 signed by one Clarissa Adaugo Ebuzeme (Miss) of TRLPLAW law firm brought on behalf of the plaintiffs ostensibly for the enforcement  of the ruling of 29th June 2016 in which the Applicants sought among other relief for  an order requiring the 1st defendant alleged contemnor to reject and jettison any other nomination forms submitted by any persons apart from the 1st  and 2nd plaintiffs  and applicants in Jimoh Ibrahim Folorunsho is the candidate for the 2nd defendant for the said governorship election”
Driving home its proof of conspiracy in the matter, the petitioner said “when the application which gave rise to the said order of 14th Ocober , 2016 was brought , heard and granted, the judge and the counsels were aware that Eyitayo Jegede’s name had been forwarded to the INEC by the PDP  as its candidate, yet Justice Abang, Fakunle and Oluyede proceeded with the matter without affording Eyitayo Jegede the opportunity of being heard in the matter”
The petitioner further posited that R A  Oluyede is the proprietor and principal partner of TRLPLAW law firm which filed the application for the enforcement of the ruling of 29th June 2016 and in which substitution of any other person who might have been nominated  for the said election with Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim was sought adding that “it is important to point out that in the course of the proceedings that led to the judgement of  29th June 2016, R A Oluyede was never a counsel and therefore did not appear for any of the plaintiffs or the 2nd defendant. Curiously, however, at the enforcement stage, while his firm, TRLPLAW through Clarissa Adaugo Ebuzeme appeared for the 2nd  defendant, the PDP to compromise the case.”
Alleging grave injustice against it in the matter, the PDP sought, among other prayers that on the weighty allegations of unethical misconduct set earlier, wants  Olagoke Fakunle and R A Oluyede involvement in the suit investigated particularly on the order of 14th October directing INEC to substitute the name of Ibrahim who was not a party to the suit for the PDP candidate.
The Party also want how Olagoke Fakunle who commenced the action in the suit as counsel for the plaintiff surreptitiously became the counsel to PDP the 2nd defendant in the same action, to compromise the action investigated, as well as “outside the court relationship between Olagoke Fakunle, R.A Oluyede on the one hand and Justice Abang on the other hand in relation to the suit in question and other suits brought before him” just as the PDP also want it investigated, the deliberate refusal of Justice Abang to follow the Supreme Court decisions on the subject of the powers of National Executive Committee to conduct primaries and forward names  of candidates to the INEC under the PDP Constitution, by directing that the Ondo state Executive Committee should conduct governorship election.
With reference made to the case of Emenike v PDP, the petitioner  concluded  that the refusal of Justice Abang to follow the decisions of the Supreme court was fraudulently contrived.

Miss Ekimogun is basically to promote Ondo cultural heritage which makes it unique.

It is tough but I have been able to combine both. Almost all my lecturers in school understand my profession as a model. I am always careful not to allow one affect the other.  I take my time to plan my schedule
How do you intend to affect Ondo positively as the incumbent Miss Ekimogun?
AYO_3286
My aim is not limited to Ondo society but the country at large. Being of service to humanity, I will also work on a foundation to intensify awareness on cholera and its prevention.
We understand that by the virtue of winning the Miss Ekimogun 2016 you won a slot to represent the country in an international event…How true is this?
That is very true. I will be representing Nigeria in Uruguay South America for the Miss Atlantic next year.
AYO_3286

Congratulations on the feat.
Thank You

Responsibilities! The crown has gotten me Responsibilities. I see myself as a lady that so many models out there are looking up to. I am going to put in all my best, so that after my reign, I will be remembered forever.
IMG-20151217-WA0000
There are several ladies who aspire to be top notch models, but our perception about models as Africans may have discouraged them. What is your word of encouragement for such ladies?
IMG-20151217-WA0000
That why in everything u set your mind, you must be determined, set your goal, pray, be determined and make perseverance your watchword. They should not make the mistake of dropping  their modeling career because of little distractions.
Are you into a relationship?  if yes, how have you been able to manage your career and relationship?
For now my career is the only relationship am keen about.

The EM team would like to congratulate you once again for the recent feats recorded and also wish you good luck as you continue your exploits.
Thank you very much

THUS FAR ON IREAKARI ELECTRICY FUELING CIRCUMSTANCE

That the body distributing power or Electricity in Nigeria BEDC which controls Ondo state and some neighboring states has disconnected the entire Ireakari community of Ose Local Government, Ondo State for over 8months ago is loafer news, But the effort to restore the lights especially when one of the illustrious son of the community was appointed to Head the Ondo state Electricity Board(OSED) becomes an empirical discussion. At his resumption to office Olatunji OShati Maxima thught the matter was just a small issue at which he can just give a directive to the Board and the BEDC to restore Ireakari Electricity, but it was not so.
The Chairan of the OSEB swing into actions to meet with various committees that know anything about the matter, He contacted the various Heads of the Electricity Board from Owo to AKure i, Akure ii Ondo  Business managers to be precise Engr Dumoye the Business Manager to know their Own stand on the matter. He discovered  that the state  Electricy Board does not have power over BEDC and that BEDC  and that BEDC was under the exclusive presereved of one of the organ of federal Government beign regulated by NERD
He however acknowledged, the resilient & relating of His HRM Oba in finding solution to the logjam
In furtherance to his activity, the General Manager of OSEB Eng Adeloye constituted a committee and visited the ireakari leaders and Obas to discuss the way forward and since the chairman has not relent in its effort to ensure that light is back to Ireakari community even the Yuletide. But when things are yet to take shape. On the 23rd Dec 2015 while many others were busy arranging for the Christmas and new year, Oluomo Olatunji Oshati Maxima found it so unrelaxing for his people to be in black out. This is why He and the general manger of OSEB went to the office of the chief state Head of Ondo & Ekiti state BEDC Earnest Edgar to know the fate of the community at this yuletide. Responding to their request, the chief Head for Ondo & Ekiti State BEDC assures that in no distant time, He will ensure that Electricity is restored back to Ireakari community but He solicited for the cooperation of the entire people of the community and opined that a committee be set up within the community to ensure that the staff of BEDC in the community are safe to perform their operation and appeal to individual to pay up their bill. He further reiterated that the service will be better as soon as more megawatts are generated from the source.
Consequent upon this, Olantunji Oshati Maxima wish to appeal to the entire people of Ireakari  to keep the Hope alive as they pray along with every comiittee working for the restoration of the Electricity and let there be peace at this yuletide. It is our believe thst definitely “Lehin Okuku biri biri, imole a tan’. Happy New Year.
