On Sunday 18th December 2011, Nigeria saw Monica Ogah crowned the Winner of the MTN Project Fame West Africa season 4. It was to everyone’s delight to see the 22 year old go home with a cash prize of N2,500,000, a fully loaded Toyota RAV 4 and a recording contract worth several millions of Naira.
The finale show saw the ‘”Senstional Six” (Finalists) – Ethel, Ruth, Yvonne, Roy, Ese and Monica, entertain attendees with two performances each in which one was the memorable song they have performed in the competition and the other their very own musical composition premiered with their music videos.
The Winner Monica Ogah was sure the centre of attention when she performed the hit single – “Only Me” by 2face Idibia and her own personal composition titled “Na You”. After her performance, one of the judges – Kwame said “You have an amazing voice and you know how to connect with the audience with your voice and your body language. You have greatly improved since you entered into the academy and you have evolved into a star…Weldone!” and the beautiful voice coach – Ige said “You always know how to put the perfect amount of energy and body language into a song. You also know how to engage your audience in every song you perform and you have an amazing voice…you were definitely born to do this!”
Speechless after being pronounced winner of the MTN Project Fame West Africa season 4, Monica thanked God, the MTN project fame judges, faculty and her loyal fans saying “I am very grateful for all the love and training I have received since I got into the academy. I feel very blessed and I promise not to let you all down.”
This finale show saw the creme de la creme of the society such as Honorable Abike Dabiri (Member of the Federal House of Representatives), Bola Akingbade (C.M.O MTN Nigeria), Chief Olu Jacobs(Veteran Actor), Leanne Lyons (From R&B group – SWV(Sisters with Voices)), Ayo Animashaun, Saint Obi, OmoBaba and many others.
And to keep the house bubbly, MTN didn’t disappoint at all as there were musical performances by International R&B group - Dru Hill, Wiz Kidand MTN Project Fame Season 3 Winner Chidinma who performed songs from her album launched the day before the finale.The runner-up’s were not left out, asRoy (1st Runner-Up) went home with N 1.5 Million and a fully loaded Toyota Corolla Car, Ese (2nd Runner-Up) went home with N 1 Million and a fully loaded Toyota Yaris and Ethel took to her home in Ghana N 1 Million.So far so good, MTN Project Fame West Africa has launched immensely the music careers of Iyanya Mbuk (Season 1 Winner), Mike Anyasodo (Season 2 Winner) and the small but mightyChidinma who broke all odds to become the first ever female to win the title of MTN Project Fame West Africa and now Monica Ogah.
