Thugs beat up ASUU official in Kano.

KANO- Heavily armed thugs, Friday, pummeled the North West Coordinator of Academic Staff Union of University, Dr Bappa Abdullahi Bichi in his office located within the old Campus of Bayero University, Kano.

Vanguard learnt that the incident occurred shortly after the University Don walked into his office located not far from the institution’s entrance gate.

Eyewitness account told Vanguard that the fiery ASUU chieftain had hardly settled down when four men bulldozed their way into the office and demanded he escort them out.

The account further confirmed to Vanguard that Dr Bappa Abdullahi Bichi demanded from the intruders their identification, and mission to his office in addition to a request to show evidence of warrant of arrest if they were police officers.

It was at this point that the yet to be identified men lost patience and descended on the celebrated Mathematic teacher and beat him to stupor.

Vanguard learnt that Dr Bichi’s cry  attracted the security men at the gate who quickly put the gate under lock and key in a bid to arrest the intruders but was foiled when the heavily armed men arrived shortly after and forced their way out of the academic environment unmolested.

The ASUU Coordinator who was brutally battered was rushed to University clinic for medical attention by good Samaritans and was subsequently placed on admission.

Narrating his ordeal on his hospital bed, Dr Bappa told Reporters that ‘ four armed men stormed my office by 10am and requested that I should follow them to their office. I therefore demanded for their identification and warrant of arrest if any”

One of them flashed an identity card and when I tried to reach to my colleague via phone on the development, they seized my phone and attacked me physically, while one of them blocked the entrance door to my office’

Kano police Command confirmed the incident adding but added that the University Don was yet to lodge a formal complaint to enable them swing into action.
