GUESS WHAT? We found the safest place in Nigeria.

THE Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, has rated Cross River State as the safest in the country.

Speaking while commissioning the Cross River State Emergency Response Centre-Quick Intervention Squad (ERC-QIS) in Calabar yesterday, Abubakar noted that although security is everybody's concern, he was happy to say that the state is the most peaceful in Nigeria.

The police boss also lauded the state government for taking care of other security operatives, as well as for establishing the QIS, which he said, is the first of its kind in the country. The squad, according to him, will assist other security operatives in executing their constitutional functions in the state.

Abubakar added that the centre will further boost the state's tourism programme of becoming a destination of repute and urged its operatives to be polite, civil, respect the rule of law and also observe the guidelines establishing the centre.

Responding, Governor Liyel Imoke said the stability of any economy and development of any society hinges on the safety of lives and property.
